Entry to The Rifles Museum is free.

There is a small charge if visitors wish to visit The Royal Green Jackets Museum which is housed in the same building. However, please note that this charge is not applicable to serving military personnel.

Tuesday-Saturday: 10am -5pm (last admission 4.15pm)
Sunday: Closed

April to the first two weeks in June:

Monday-Saturday: 10am -5pm (last admission 4.15pm)
Sunday: Closed

Last two weeks of June, to the first two weeks in September:

Monday-Saturday: 10am – 5pm (last admission 4.15pm)
Sunday: 11am -4pm (last admission 3.15pm)

September to the first two weeks in December:

Monday-Saturday: 10am -5pm (last admission 4.15pm)
Sunday: Closed

We are open on all Bank Holidays except for Good Friday.
We are closed over Christmas and the New Year.

Getting Here

Foot

We are situated on Peninsula Barracks at the top end of the Winchester City Centre. It’s a short walk up from the High Street, just past Winchester’s iconic Westgate and Great Hall.

Car

The Rifles Museum’s postcode is SO23 8TS

We have limited free car parking on site. Please go to the front desk upon arrival to pick up a parking permit.  Please place this clearly in the windscreen of your vehicle. 

We are a 5 minute walk away from pay-and-display Tower Street Car Park.

Bus

Westgate (P) bus stop is a 2 minute walk away.

Train

Winchester Train Station is a 5-10 minute walk away.

Accessibility

The Rifles Museum is completely wheelchair friendly, with toilets and baby changing facilities located on the ground floor. Guide dogs are welcome and induction loops are available from the front desk. Please be aware that our sister museum, The Royal Green Jackets Museum, is split over two floors but has a lift available. Please ask a member of staff for more information.
