Getting Here

Where We Are

We are situated on Peninsula Barracks at the top end of the Winchester City Centre. It’s a short walk up from the High Street, just past Winchester’s iconic Westgate and the Great Hall.

The Rifles Museum’s postcode is SO23 8TS.

We have limited free car parking on site. Please go to the front desk upon arrival to pick up a parking permit.  Please place this clearly in the windscreen of your vehicle and park between the building and the metal studs in the floor in front of the Museum.

We are a 5 minute walk away from Tower Street Car Park. This is pay-and-display.

Westgate (P) bus stop is a 2 minute walk away.

Winchester Railway Station is a 5-10 minute walk away.

The Rifles Museum is completely wheelchair friendly. Guide dogs are welcome and induction loops are available from the front desk. Please be aware that our sister museum, The Royal Green Jackets Museum, is split over two floors but has a stair-lift available. Please ask a member of staff for more information.

There are toilets and baby changing facilities located on the ground floor of The Royal Green Jackets Museum in the same building.

There are a variety of products for sale in our shop, as well as an honesty store for second-hand books at the back of the Museum.

On the Peninsula Barracks site there is a café situated in The AGC Museum, next door to The Rifles Museum. Copper Joes is the perfect place to relax before or after a visit.
