Welcome to The Rifles Collection

The Rifles Collection tells the story of The Rifles, a regiment formed in 2007, drawing on both the heritage of its antecedent regiments and the current Regiment. The museum reflects the experiences of the modern Regiment, showcasing their tales from modern conflicts such as Iraq and Afghanistan as well as their role in British culture; such as the role played in the 2012 Olympics. There are tales of courage, humour and sacrifice from the soldiers of The Rifles and their families since its formation. To find out more about the ‘living heritage’ that is The Rifles, you can explore the resources available on this website, contact us for research purposes, visit our museum, one of our travelling exhibitions or one of our sister museums in The Rifles Museum Network.

Armed Forces Day, Winchester

19 June 2016

Join us for ‘Peninsula on Parade’ to show your support for our Armed Forces.

2015 was a huge success for all involved with over 1,200 visitors, and we hope this year will be just as good, if not better!

At this year’s event, there will be live performances from The Spitfire Sisters, as well as The Rifles Band and Bugles, who recently performed at the prestigious Horseguards Parade earlier this month, alongside Gurkha piper and the captivating Kukri Dancers. Our local cadets from the Army, Air and Sea Cadets forces will be returning for their annual Cadet Cup competition. Last year, the Air Cadets were victorious, who will it be this year?

‘Peninsula on Parade’ is a celebration of all things military for Armed Forces Day 2016 with Winchester Military Museums featuring an extravaganza of military vehicles from a WW1 18-pounder to a Saladin MVT and a modern day Jackal and RMP car. With music from military performers and bands, cadet drill displays, paintball ranges, face-painting and historic re-enactors, this is a day out not to be missed!

Come down to Peninsula Barracks, Romsey Road, Winchester on Sunday 19th June 2016 for a great day out and to show your support for our Armed Forces.
